The Kenya University Sports Federation Western Conference (KUSFWE) stands in solidarity with the global community in observing the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence from 25th November to 10th December 2024. This campaign, beginning with the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and culminating on International Human Rights Day, calls for urgent action to address gender-based violence (GBV).
We, the Kenya University Sports Conference, urge our affiliate member universities, through Games Tutors, Sports Officers, and Directors of Sports, to organize internal games and sports events that spotlight GBV prevention. Sports provide a powerful platform to unite, educate, and promote values of inclusion, friendship, respect, excellence, and zero tolerance for violence.
UNODC/UN Women (2022) reported 88,900 women and girls killed globally by intimate partners or family members, with Africa leading at 20,000 victims. This tragedy demands immediate intervention.
