The Kenya University Sports Federation (KUSF) Western Conference celebrated a successful Lacrosse tournament hosted by Kibabii University from 23rd to 24th November 2024. The event brought together four universities in a fiercely contested festival that showcased the growing passion for this innovative sport in the region. Despite the spirited competition, participation was affected by equipment challenges faced by many Western Conference Universities. This limitation highlights the need for accessibility of implements, increased investment, and support to enable wider participation from KUSF affiliated institutions in future events.
Lacrosse, a relatively new sport in Kenya, is rapidly gaining traction. Recently, officials from Lacrosse and FCA Church secured a partnership agreement with the Lutheran World Federation to introduce Lacrosse to refugee communities in Kakuma and Kalobeyei Settlements. This initiative aims to use the sport as a tool for engagement and empowerment within these communities.
The KUSF Western Conference continues to play a vital role in promoting sports innovation, providing a platform for students to explore emerging disciplines like Lacrosse while fostering partnerships that expand its reach and impact.
